Wilmar Isaías was born on July 19th, 1988.
His mother, Doña María Teresa, and his father, Don Mariano, were in charge of his education. He has a brother and a sister. Both of his parents worked for Living Water International/Adopt-A-Child; his father was a visitor and his mother made tortillas. They decided to register their son in the feeding program in 1992 when Wilmar was 4 years old. He got his first card with his number CH-0147 and since that time he has been part of the program. He enjoyed attending the feeding program, mainly because of the delicious meals. Wilmar was a mischievous boy, much like all the other little kids. He hardly ever stayed for the Bible classes and sometimes he ran away with other kids.
But then one day in June in 1998, when he was ten years old, he stayed and participated in one class. That day Sister Magda Girón was sharing at the Bible class and Wilmar heard the message of Salvation and accepted Jesus in his heart as his Personal Saviour. Through LWI/Adopt-A-Child the seed of the Word of God was sown in his heart and, along with his family, he started to attend Liberty Church in Chixocol. Brother Diego Sincú was, and still is, the pastor in that church.
Unfortunately, Don Marinano, Wilmar’s father, and one of his brothers passed away in an accident and that affected Wilmar in a big way, because he started to feel sad and alone. His family was also emotionally and economically affected. Although Doña María Teresa was a good mother, Wilmar walked away from the ways of God. At the age of 17 years, he started to attend the Youth Group in Liberty Church in Zacualpa, where Ramiro Chom was the leader. In that Church he met Pastor Gregorio Chom, who treated him like a son. Wilmar was discipled by Pastor Gregorio and reconciled his life with the Lord. From that day his life changed, he never imagined the plans that Jesus had for him. Motivated by his love of music, he learned how to play the keyboard and sing to worship God. Wilmar became part of the Praise Group and started to read the Bible again, learning more about the Lord every day.
Later, in 2007, he started to work for LWI/Adopt-A-Child as an Evangelism teacher and accepted the challenge of living by faith – a job that he continues to like, specially teachingGod´s Word to children and youth. With the motivation of Pastor Gregorio Chom and the economic support of Living Water, Brother Ron Kelly and other generous people, he signed up with a Theological Seminary and three years later he graduated with a Faculty of Bible Teaching. He started to help Pastor Gregorio in the Zacualpa and Tunajá Churches.
At the age of 23 he decided to have his own family and married Petronila Colaj, who is an Evangelism teacher. Now, they have one daughter named Anghie who is 2 ½ years old.
In 2014, he was appointed as the Pastor for Tunajá Church and in 2016 he was also appointed as a Leader of the Evangelism team in Quiché, positions that he currently holds.
Wilmar feels thankful for all that the Lord has done in his life. He knows pretty well that God has great plans for each one of us and he serves Him with all his heart through LWI/Adopt-A-Child. He is a dynamic and inspiring leader who guides with love the work that the Lord has put into his hands.
