Sponsoring a child is a wonderful privilege and one that blesses not only the child sponsored (and their family) but the person sponsoring as well. To be able to communicate with your sponsored child, see how they are growing and developing each year and know that you are sowing into their lives is a great blessing.
Sometimes sponsors also receive an extra special blessing, and this is what happened to Roberta, one of our sponsors from Northern Ireland, who has sponsored Jorge Eliseo for almost 11 years. A group visiting Guatemala earlier in the year was given a parcel and asked if they could take it back to the UK and send it on to Roberta. They were happy to do this and the parcel was duly forwarded to her.
Imagine Roberta’s delight when she opened it to find a beautiful Guatemalan Throw, woven by Jorge Eliseo’s mother and embroidered with her name and ‘A gift from Jorge for his sponsor’. These Throw’s are hand woven in sections on a back loom and take many hours to complete, so this really is a priceless gift, sent from the heart, to treasure for many years to come.
Thank you, Roberta, for sharing this lovely story with us.
