A couple of months ago we posted a blog about Pelivan, a teenage boy in Albania who loves music and who built his own guitar so that he could play.
While on leave in Germany, Living Water Missionary Christiane Nötzoldt was talking with a friend from her home church who had read about Pelivan and wanted to know what he could do to support him in his gift making guitars. Once back in Albania, Christiane talked with the leadership team and with Pelivan. He wrote and drew everything he would need to make guitars, what kind of wood, how big, the glue, the strings and other small bits and pieces like tuning keys. He also detailed the tools he would need – he had borrowed the tools from somebody to build his first one. The team researched and priced everything and Christiane emailed it, together with Pelivan’s notes and drawings, to the friend in her church. He was so excited about this that wrote to say he wanted to pay for all the materials and the tools that Pelivan needs to start making guitars. He also has a grinding machine that he would like to give to Pelivan and we are looking into how to get it from Germany to Albania for him. What a wonderful gift and opportunity for this young man!
Pelivan has a place to make into a workshop – it is in an old house where the family used to live, right beside their new house in the village of Katjel.
The funds have now come through and just last week (end of October) we were able to give the materials and the tools to him to get started. Pelivan is still in high school and so will work during school holidays to start with.
We are excited about what God is doing in Pelivan’s life and in the lives of others who attend our programmes in Albania and Guatemala.
