Over the past year or so, AACUK Area Coordinator for Ireland, Scott Ballantine, has been involved in a partnership between Adopt-A-Child and Christianity Explored Ministries to have the Christianity Explored course translated into Albanian for use in churches throughout that country.
Scott has done a huge amount of work raising the £23,000 needed to do the translation work and provide the leaders’ guides, study books and DVDs required to launch the course in Albania. Ahead of the launch in Tirana, the capital of Albania, in May, Scott was invited to speak at the Christianity Explored ‘Love, Live, Tell 2018’ event held at All Souls, Langholm Place, London in February. He was interviewed on stage and explained a bit about the work of AAC and how the partnership with Christianity Explored came about. The whole evening was live on Facebook, but you can watch the recording by following the link at the bottom of this blog. Scott’s part starts at around 43 minutes in.
Since that evening things have really been moving on, as Scott explains:-
‘Yesterday (1st March) was a momentous day for the Christianity Explored Albania Project. When I spoke, about the project at the Love Live Tell 2018 event at All Souls Church, Langham Place, London on February 8th, an event hosted by Christianity Explored Ministries, I made know our desire to also translate and print both the Youth Editions of the main CE Course, or at the very least to translate one of them – ‘Soul’ which is aimed at 15-19 year old teenagers and young adults. After the event a number of people who had been in the audience approached me willing to help, several were trustees of various Trusts I was unaware of.
In the meantime Pastor Erion Cuni, our partner in Tirana, was also making the need known to various contacts he has across Europe. Yesterday Adopt-A-Chlid UK received a grant of £5,000 from the one Trust, while Erion received a grant of 12,100 Euro (£10,800) from a Dutch ministry. In total, nearly £16,000. Praise the Lord – a clear indication of his hand on this project. To date total funding stands at a little under £40,000 for the project – ONLY GOD!
Not only are we now going to translate and print the main Christianity Explored Course and ‘Soul’, but also ‘CY’, another youth edition which is aimed at 11-14 year olds.
The Launch and Training event for the main CE Course will take place on May 16 & 17th in the church of Erion Cuni and Hervin Fushekati, in Tirana. Please pray for this event, we already have 170 Pastors and church leaders booked in for the event, including a number from our own ministry (Ilir, Petro, Goni & Christiane, others being trained at a later date). We have numerous opportunities to use this proven tool to point people to Jesus through the Gospel of Mark. It can be used in our existing programmes in Katjel, Kotodesh, Rodokal & Homezh (mens and ladies meetings, youth meetings etc.) whilst there will be opportunities in the new villages in Mokra – Proptisht, Trebinje, Dunica & Kalivach. PLEASE DO PRAY FOR A HARVEST, not only in our area of ministry, but across Albania and the Albanian speaking regions of the neighbouring nations.’
